How is flooring measured?
Carpet and vinyl sheet are manufactured in rolls. Carpet rolls come a standard 3.66 lineal meters wide, but they some come as wide as 4 lineal meters.
Vinyl sheeting comes 4 lineal meters wide as standard and commercial vinyl sheeting is produced at 2 lineal meters as standard.
If a room is wider or longer than 3.5 lineal meters, you may require a join in your carpet. Carpet tiles, vinyl planks, hybrid planks, laminate and timber flooring are measured in square meters and come in boxes or packs.
Can I use my own measurements or plans for the quote?
You can measure for your new floor coverings yourself or provide a plan, but we highly recommend that you utilise our free measure and quote service, to ensure the accuracy of your quote.
If you provide Evermore Floors with inaccurate information or measurements, additional costs may be incurred.
The free measure and quote service also brings samples for you to view in your own lighting and space. We can also help detect any unforeseen obstacles that could cause issues on the day of installation.
Can I re-use my current underlay?
We highly recommend selecting new underlays for your new floor.
Existing underlays can contain soiling such as dirt, odour and wear, that can adversely affect your new floorcovering. It’s for this reason that most suppliers will not maintain any warranties on your products if installed on an existing underlay.
Should I remove my existing floors prior to installation?
It’s up to you.
It can be time and cost saving to remove your existing floor prior to installation, however, floor removals can be difficult and physically very taxing. If incorrect methods or tooling are used, excessive damage can occur to the floor, resulting in additional time and costs to make the surface suitable.
We recommend that Evermore Floors remove your existing floorcoverings or organise for a specialist, if required. Our installation teams have all the knowledge, experience and tooling required to complete this vital part of the installation process.
Is flooring environmentally friendly?
Carpets are made with numerous natural fibres, such as wool. Most timber-based products come from sustainable sources, and many Vinyl planks are manufactured using recycled plastics.
The flooring industry is embracing a responsible future. Together, we can make a difference.
What’s the best product for a rental property?
Floor coverings for rental properties need to be hardwearing and stain-resistant.
We recommend a synthetic carpet and vinyl planks. Vinyl is hardwearing and individual planks can be easily replaced if damaged or marked.
Do I need to move furniture?
We understand that choosing a new floorcovering can be a stressful process, and one of the biggest stresses is moving furniture. Our tradespeople have a very physical job, and it is preferred that all furnishings be removed prior to the installation of your new floor covering.
We understand that sometimes furniture such as dishwashers and fridges, can be difficult to remove and if we have plenty of notice, Evermore Floors can assist with this, as we can arrange for a 2-man team to complete the job, instead of a 1-man team.
Please ensure that all bulky furniture is empty before we assist you e.g. drawers out of units, all trinkets out of the China cabinet.
There may also be additional charges for furniture removal and although we take great care in moving your valuables, we take no liability for any damage caused when moving them.
Do I need to come into the store to choose my new floor?
No, you can purchase your flooring over the phone, on site during the quote or instore.
Do you supply product only?
Yes, we can supply you with new flooring for you to DIY, however, flooring is a specialised trade, and installers spend years learning their skills and acquiring the equipment necessary, for an outstanding finish.
With flooring taking up such a large area of your home and being a significant financial investment, we highly recommend that your new floor covering is installed by a trained professional, so that you’re not disappointed with the result.
Do I need to be home during the quote or install?
No.
No one needs to be on-site during your quote or installation, but it is highly recommended, especially during the quote.
If it’s inconvenient for you to be on-site when members of Evermore Floors are providing you with a service, you can leave a key with us or on-site and we can handle the rest.
Please be assured that we only employ professionals with the highest integrity, who will respect your privacy and space.

What are differences between the hard flooring types?
Hard flooring, also known as resilient flooring, is manufactured in a variety of sizes and materials. The most common are Vinyl sheet, Luxury vinyl planks, Laminate, Hybrid planks, engineered Timber and solid Timber boards.
Vinyl sheet is a PVC based. It comes on a typically 4m length roll. It’s measured per lineal meter and is rolled out in your home and hand cut to size by our skilled tradies.
Luxury vinyl planks are PVC based planks, typically around 1.2m long and 2 – 5mm thick. They are individually cut and adhered to the sub-floor with an adhesive and measured in meters squared.
Laminate is a solid board, typically made for inexpensive materials, with a thin wooden veneer. Each board is locked together with a locking mechanism. They are measured in meters squared and no adhesives are required for its installation.
Hybrid planks are a combination of Luxury vinyl planks and laminate boards, and are measured in meters squared. They have a similar construction to laminate, only they are made of PVC and have a tough vinyl veneer.
Engineered Timber are boards with a timber veneer and a specially designed timber body. They are light but sturdy and a more affordable option to solid timber and are measured in meters squared.
Solid timber are just that, solid timber boards. They are a premium floor covering and are usually adhered to the subfloor and are measured in meters squared.
